WELCOME TO WESTWOOD

ww.jpgWelcome to Westwood Elementary!  Happy November!!!  Students and teachers at Westwood are having a great year and really doing great things.  I would invite you to stop by and see what is happening.  We have a very busy month.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for not only sharing their children with us, but also for their support and encouragement.  Happy Thanksgiving!

VOLUNTEER SPANISH INSTRUCTION

Westwood students are also fortunate to be exposed to Spanish instruction on a weekly basis.  Once a week every class participates in Spanish instruction from volunteers within the community.  The Westwood PTA and a grant from the Stillwater Public Education Foundation (SPEF) have supported this program in the past. If you are interested in volunteering, please check with the office.

HEALTH AND FITNESS

Two years ago, our school received the School for Healthy Lifestyles Grant.  This grant helped us to focus on four areas: Fitness, Nutrition, Tobacco Prevention, and Safety.  Westwood PTA parents formed the Wellness committee, which worked with the district food service department to pilot a more nutritious breakfast and lunch menu.  Currently the Westwood Wake-up Walkers (WWW) program promotes a supervised walk on our new walking trail.  Please join your child as we walk each morning beginning at 8:30.
