A word from Andrea Rains, Principal

sangre.jpg

Welcome back to another wonderful school year. Children are eager and delighted to be back.  We are fortunate to have a group of  students, teachers, parents and surrounding community members who support our day-to-day educational learning.

Sangre Ridge has established a community of caring learners and teachers.  You may join us each morning for Opening  from 8:40 - 9:00 AM  in our library.  You will enjoy energizing singing and movement,  patriotic recognition, a moment of silence plus periodic special performances by our students.

We're getting fit.  From 8:15 - 8:30 each morning we enjoy Walk-n-Talk in our gym or on warm, dry mornings our Centennial Trail located on the north playground.  Any family member may join their child for a heart-healthy walk.

Sangre has a highly quailified staff!  Among our highly qualified staff we have ten  National Board Certified teachers. All of our teachers continually work towards quality professional development to provide their students with cutting edge classroom teaching strategies.

At Sangre Ridge our teachers enjoy a rich, collaborative and supportive relationship with our PTA.  If you’re new to Sangre there is something for everyone.  Contact one of our PTA co-presidents and learn how you can help.  With everyone working together in meaningful partnerships we are better able to accommodate the needs of our children.

Finally, we believe in community.  We work together for the academic success of all!  You’re welcome to visit our campus anytime.  Check in with our office staff and be prepared for a delightful visit.

Meet the Principal
Hello!  Welcome to the Sangre Ridge Website! We're happy that you stopped by for a visit. I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Rains.  I have had the privilege of being a public school educator in Stillwater, Oklahoma for twenty-two years. This is my fifth year to be serving as your elementary school principal.

OSU is my alma mater and prepared me for educational leadership in our great state!  Along with a BS in Elementary Education, I have a minor in Language Arts and an MS in Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Leadership.

I'm often asked about  favorite aspects of my job.  That's a difficult question to answer because there are so many.  I'm weekly rewarded with hugs from friendly students and enjoy moments when children stop by my office to read a poem that they've written, read a book or demonstrate a math strategy that they've recently acquired.  Additionally, I enjoy working with teachers on instructional goals for their classrooms and working with parents to plan and problem solve for optimal learning for their children.

It's a joy to be around quality teachers, top-notch support staff, supportive families and especially joyful and enthusiastic children.  We aim for excellence through innovation and best practices in education.  Feel free to call or e-mail me at any time for ideas, concerns or celebrations at arains@stillwater.k12.ok.us.   If you're new to our area and want more information or a tour of the school, call our front office at (405) 533-6360.  We're happy to serve you!
